It has been a while...

...hi all, Happy New Year. You know, my best pal just commented that I'm still ho ho-ing on my blog! Yeah it's been a while since I last blog. Havent got the rhythm on the new routine yet...I think!

Mika started Year 1 and is adapting great at school...apart from the mischief he did on day 2! Yes, you are seeing that right!! The very 2nd day!! He used a friend's scissors to cut his friend's hair!! A tiny bit but that was still unacceptable!! Asked him why and he tried to twist the story a little, yes he lied! For that I rotan-ed him on the buttock and also on that barber hand! Later at nite, I explained n talked to him nicely. He said "I'm sorry mummy I got carried away, you know new school, new surrounding"! *sigh* I sternly told him no more misbehaving at school!

first day of school

Last week we attended a few trial lessons for some extra activities. He loves football. Has started the 'twice a week' training after school. And also signed up for wushu. Meaning that he'll be at school from 8am to 5.30pm thrice a week and finishes at 3pm on normal days. See, I actually have lots of ME time now. And the house is oh-so quiet on weekday mornings n noons. Bliss? Ha ha!

In the mornings after sending Mika, I will have breakie at my favourite cafe, McD or Mak Jah's. At times I skip lunch. So I dont cook that much. Just dinner but a good n proper one as that's his only home meal on weekdays. Mika has his morning n lunch break at the cafeteria. Thankfully the menu is all healthy and sort of homecook lunch. It's fixed so it's easier and I've got the monthly menu with me which varies daily. Another good thing is the cafeteria does not sell any junk food or sugared drinks apart from 100+ n vitagen. I have not given Mika any money yet cos his food is all paid up in advance quarterly. Maybe once in a while, will give him some money for 100+ and for him to learn to deal with money. Later!

Oh...and I now chauffeur my little boss to school instead of his yellow bus. It's fun sending n picking him up to n from school...we get to talk about, well 'school'! Mika calls it our car-talk. BUT I dread the scorching hot sun at 3pm! My poor skin is getting darker n age faster. But I love it when he gives me the usual peck on the cheek before he gets off the car and then turn around to wave at me before getting up the stairs to school. And the smile on his dirty face after school. Love it!

football training

As usual he has lots to story me everyday. One of our car-talk..."mummy I sit near the door in class and i'm so close to nature"! Yeah, that's what he said! He could see a woodpecker pecking on the bark of a tree, yellow birds chirping and insects! Once, he interrupted his science teacher telling her about the woodpecker! She then gave the whole class some few minutes to see it pecking!! I dont know whether he's paying attention when lessons are goin on or admiring the outdoor!! Well, so far so good with his 'not so much' homework! At least he's not taking hours to sit at his study table. And is showing some interest...

I can see that he's enjoying school. Football is definitely his favourite of all! He falls asleep at 8pm on training days! Coach said he's ok and is quite aggresive. But stamina is z-e-r-o now! It's very tiring for him but he loves it so this mummy is ok with it. It's good that he sweats it out and burn some fats! And he gets to mix around.

Instead of continuing his taekwando, he wanted wushu. He tried on trial day but is not so into it cos the command is in mandarin. He wants to give it a try. Well, we'll see how it goes...

I'm not a kiasu mummy...to send him to all academic based enrichment classes or tuition. Unless there's a need. I want him to enjoy school and grow up to be a person with good moral values n character. And I will not force him to get excellent grades. As long as he doesnt fail or score below average...I'm fine with it!

aiyo...it's quite a long 1st post of 2008! Anyway got to go now...goin to get ready that little boy for some reading and then off to bed! TATA for now.
