A sad sad day...

...for Mika when he attended the last day of pre-school. It was not just an ordinary last day with a farewell party but it's the final day of operation for his kindy. Maryvale Good Shepherd Kindergarten is closing its doors...after 40 great years of excellence.

We're all invited that morning. It began with the kids singing a medley of X'mas songs, school song for one last time and followed by auld lang syne with them holding hands with all teachers n staffs. It was sad...all emotional n teary eyed. It saddens me to think that we'll never be here again.

After that, we went outdoors to enjoy the pleasant surrondings of the school with some light snacks n refreshment. It's difficult to find schools with such a conducive environment in KL these days. Maryvale reminds me of my own kindy with spacious n airy classrooms, an old piano at the corner of the hall n the old-fashioned playground with concrete slides n tunnels, wooden-plank swings n that squeaky merry-go-round. It's such a waste...for Maryvale to go. And that cute little treehouse too. *sob sob*

One of the parents made a beautiful sugar icing butter cake to thank all teachers n staffs. I had 3 pieces of that yummylicious cake while Mika was having fun playing football at the field...his favourite time in school. He's going to miss his pre-school a lot.

When it's time to hand out the gifts to his teachers, he was upset...feeling sad. After all the hugs n kisses...it's time to go. Mika hates goodbyes. He just walked out without turning back. He already had tears running down his face. His principal saw him leaving n hug him again...Mika just looked down. Didnt want to have any eye contact. His sadness was obvious to us all. Anyway we said our goodbyes and left.

He was quiet thruout our drive home. Told me this during shower later..."mummy, i'm so sad that my school has to go, i am going to miss everything n everyone." He's a sentimental boy. I gave him a big hug. I told him he's a big boy now and going to a big school soon.

It was a sad n teary day...but am glad that he's so loved by all at school. My little boy is going to start a new chapter in his life soon...

Oh...Elly, why does good school has to close down? it is so sad. Mika is sure lucky to complete his pre-school there where others has even have no chance to study in this school anymore.

It was indeed a sad day, I guess not only for Mika, for everyone who attended. What a pity dat the kindy has to close its doors for good.

Next year Mika will be in Pri. 1 and he'll have a new environment and will meet new frens and I'm sure he'll enjoy himself in the new school.

Ya lor hor, u din mention why it's closing its doors leh.

annie Q, qiqi's mom & tracy...

hi all! FYI, school has to closed cos partly it has to make way for the new flyover along Jln Ulu Klang and the church will turn the kindy to an orphanage..the existing one at bukit madonna which is nearby is sold. It's the church's mission n priority to the orphans. So maryvale got to make way...Mika's very lucky to have attended that school. It's a very good school with really dedicated teachers. They've been teaching for at least 16yrs there. *sigh* Mika is still not interested in getting ready for std 1...actually me too!!
